Who CaveSignal is for

CaveSignal is currently offered to people who are 18 or older. You must provide accurate account information and keep your sign-in credentials secure.

A user-directed character, not an assessment

CaveSignal lets you shape a private character that may represent you, a fictional version of you, or simply a character you enjoy shaping. You choose the character's state and, if you want, a support preference. The character is not a medical or mental-health assessment of you. CaveSignal does not diagnose conditions, provide therapy, infer a person's emotional state, or replace professional or emergency help. Do not rely on CaveSignal in an emergency. The Safety and support page explains where to find live help and what CaveSignal does not monitor.

Your account and content

You are responsible for the character name, fictional description, private notes, selected states, share messages, and Cave Notes you save or choose to share. You keep ownership of your content and give CaveSignal only the permission needed to store, process, and deliver the service to you. Do not place another person's sensitive, medical, or identifying information in a character description.

Optional AI character conversations

AI conversations are optional and require a separate notice acceptance. They are fictional exchanges with a generated character, not a human conversation, a verified account of events, therapy, diagnosis, medical or legal advice, or emergency service. Replies can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable; use your own judgment and do not rely on them for important decisions. CaveSignal does not monitor conversations in real time or guarantee that a person will review them. Do not include another person's sensitive information or information you would not want processed by the disclosed AI providers. Messages are subject to the processing described in the Privacy Policy, saved to your account until deleted, and can be deleted from Talk or through character or account deletion. They do not alter saved states, publish content, or send messages to Circle members.

Optional CaveMind improvement choice

If this optional Account setting is available, it is separate from your AI conversation choice and product feedback, starts off, and requires a deliberate confirmation. If you turn it on, eligible future user-authored conversation material may be retained as a private research candidate when the separate capture service is enabled. OpenAI-generated replies are excluded. Pending candidates are not automatically exported or used to train a model. You can turn the choice off without losing normal CaveSignal or AI functionality; the data flow and available removal controls are described in the Privacy Policy.

Trusted sharing

A trusted connection does not receive your character record, private history, or private notes. When you deliberately share an update, the recipient receives only the separate update shown in the confirmation. Recipients must use shared updates and Cave Notes respectfully and understand that delivery or viewing is not guaranteed. You may stop sharing an active update, remove a connection, or block a person through the product controls.

Respectful and lawful use

Do not use CaveSignal to threaten, harass, exploit, impersonate, or harm another person; break the law; probe other accounts; interfere with the service; or submit malicious or automated traffic.

Optional public character pages

You may choose to publish a separate fictional character presentation after reviewing its preview and publication notice. You decide the public character name, Nova or Ember artwork collection, theme, description, and any current vibe. This does not make your private history, private notes, support choices, account identity, or trusted relationships public. Information you deliberately publish may be viewed, copied, screenshotted, or redistributed by other people, and you are responsible for having the right to publish it. Do not publish another person's contact details, private information, unlawful content, or content intended to harass or impersonate someone. CaveSignal may remove public content or restrict accounts when reasonably necessary to address abuse, legal requirements, or violations of these terms.

Early-release service

Features may change as the product develops. We may restrict access when necessary to protect people, accounts, or the service. We will present updated terms for acceptance when a material change requires it.

Paid plans, renewals, and cancellation

If you purchase CaveSignal Plus, Stripe presents the price, billing interval, currency, and any discount before you confirm payment. A subscription renews automatically at the stated interval until you cancel it through CaveSignal's billing controls. Cancellation stops future renewals and Plus remains available through the current paid period unless Stripe or applicable law requires a different result. Taxes and refunds are handled as shown at checkout and as required by law. Sandbox purchases are tests only: they do not move real money or create a claim to paid service outside the test environment.

If Plus access ends, CaveSignal returns the account to Free without deleting characters or their records. One character remains active and editable; additional Plus-created characters are retained and read-only until you upgrade again or deliberately delete them. Export, privacy, blocking, and deletion controls remain available on every plan.

Third-party services

CaveSignal relies on service providers for hosting, authentication, security, email, data storage, and billing. When you choose Google sign-in or Stripe checkout, those providers also process information under their own policies. CaveSignal is not responsible for a third-party service's independent availability or conduct. Details and provider links appear in the Privacy Policy.

Friend rewards

When friend rewards are available, an accepted invitation becomes eligible only after the invited person activates a paid Plus subscription confirmed by Stripe. One invited account can reward one inviter. The reward is 10% off one future Plus invoice, has no cash value, and cannot be transferred. Test subscriptions create test rewards only. CaveSignal may withhold or reverse rewards connected to self-referral, duplicate accounts, payment reversal, automation, or other abuse.

Availability and responsibility

CaveSignal is provided on an as-available basis. We work to keep it secure and reliable, but cannot promise uninterrupted operation or that every message, notification, or shared character update will be delivered or seen. To the extent permitted by law, CaveSignal is not liable for indirect or consequential losses caused by use of, or inability to use, the service. Nothing here limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be limited.

Ending use

You may stop using CaveSignal at any time. The Account page lets you export retained data, permanently delete a character and its history, or permanently delete your account. CaveSignal may suspend or close an account that creates a security risk, harms another person, or materially violates these terms, using reasonable notice when circumstances allow.
